ABOUT KING SORROW
Some promises should never be made…
Student, Arthur Oakes is an outsider who spends his time lost in the legends of English mythology. But his bookish dreams are shattered when drug dealers force him into a terrible crime: stealing rare and valuable books from his college library. Trapped and desperate, Arthur turns to his closest friends for help. Together they dream up a fantastical scheme to summon the fabled dragon King Sorrow, in an effort to kill Arthur’s tormentors. Only when they have entered into a pact do they realise this isn’t just revenge. The friends must repeat the ritual every year, or one of them will become his next victim – a promise that will, over the course of four decades, shape and endanger their lives in ways they could never expect.
A relentless and thoughtful tour de force, KING SORROW proves Joe Hill is one of the great storytellers of our generation. New York Times.
Joe Hill walks the tightrope between horror and fantasy with grace and menace. This is a tale infused with terror and hope. Sunday Times
