Ian Stockley, CEO of Bath Festivals, says “We’re thrilled to be able to extend next year’s 70th anniversary festival from 10 to 17 days with a programme of over 160 vibrant events. We continue to bring international artists, authors and speakers to Bath to perform alongside those starting out on their professional career. This year, we are diversifying the programme content and use of venues, staging events in both our beautiful buildings and outside in the open spaces of our world heritage city. We will create a true festival experience, as we bring the city alive through performances that entertain and engage the wider community. We are partnering with schools and colleges across the city to offer children and young people opportunities to work with leading arts professionals, gain real world experience, and create and produce their own events as part of our Creative Learning programme. Fans of ‘Party in the City’ will not be disappointed with the range of bands and musical genres on offer. Friday 18 May will be an evening of free music and entertainment for all to enjoy. Over the next few weeks and months we will be sharing greater details of the programme, with the full 160 events on sale by the beginning of March. ”

Alex Clark, David Jones and James Waters continue to deliver an outstanding programme of events. Alex is an editor and literary journalist who frequently writes for The Guardian, The Observer and The Times Literary Supplement. She regularly chairs literary events and has also been on the judging panel for the Booker Prize.
