Paddy Ashdown, Nicky Morgan and Douglas Carswell join The Big Bath Debate – Sunday 28 May

Beyond the slogans…

Strong and Stable. For the Many not the Few. Let’s Take Back Control. Stronger Together.

For the last year – at least – we have been assailed with slogans and battered with a seemingly ceaseless political news cycle. As we battle to comprehend what Brexit will mean for us, we have a General Election to contend with, and one in which the political parties themselves are riven with internal dissent and disagreement.

Just days before we head to the ballot box once again, the Bath Festival invites you to our big debate – to listen, to question, to debate and to argue alongside our distinguished speakers. Chaired by Guardian political commentator Rafael Behr, our panel includes former leader of the Liberal Democrats Paddy Ashdown, Secretary of State in David Cameron’s government Conservative MP Nicky Morgan, writer Reni Eddo-Lodge and outgoing MP Douglas Carswell, who has sat in the Houses of Parliament as a Conservative, a UKIP and an independent member.

Without fear or favour, we will probe our panel – and, unlike some TV politics shows – look for answers as well as arguments.
