Positioned in a gorgeous setting on 125 acres of green with stunning views across the valleys, the American Museum and Gardens was opened to the public in 1961 with the ambition to showcase American decorative arts. The estate is composed of a museum, exhibition gallery and gardens where you can step into American history and culture.
The main entrance has level access with a permanent ramp.
A wheelchair-accessible toilet and baby changing facilities are located in the Gallery Shop and Coach House.
Blue badge disabled parking is available in the main car park, a 150-metre step-free walk from the Ticket Office.
There is a hearing loop in Ticket Office and Garden Café and Gallery Shop.
Noise cancelling headphones available from the Ticket Office free of charge.
Assistance dogs welcome everywhere on site.
You can access the Museum via the Bath skyline walk.
Access roads to and from the Museum should be used with caution due to road surfaces and lighting. Routes from the city centre and A36 also involve steep climbs Information about cycle routes in and around Bath can be found here. There are railings at the front of the Museum you can use to secure you bike or in the undercover picnic area.
The nearest train station is Bath Spa which is a short stroll from the U1 and U2 bus stop.
From Bath City Centre take First Bus services U1 or U2 to the University of Bath (services run at a frequent intervals). The turning to the Museum is clearly sign-posted from the A36 and the University of Bath. Free onsite visitor parking, including spaces for Blue Badge holders.
