Tears for Fears will make a triumphant return to their home city in May 2018 to headline on Saturday 26th May as part of the special finale weekend of the 70thAnniversary of The Bath Festival.

Tears for Fears have sold an astronomical 30 million albums worldwide.  They have given us timeless classic hits such as BRIT Award winning single ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’, ‘Shout’, ‘Mad World’, ‘Head Over Heels’, and ‘Woman in Chains’. They will perform on Bath Recreation Ground at the end of their tour and will close the festival.

Alison Moyet

Tears for Fears’ special guest will be three-times BRIT Award-winner and Grammy-nominee, Alison Moyet.  Alison has released 9 solo studio albums with 2017 seeing the release of the critically-acclaimed album ‘Other’, and her biggest world tour for thirty years.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor

“Revelling in her new-found artistic freedom, Ellis-Bextor is a star”, The Telegraph. The Brit Award nominated singer, songwriter and model came to prominence in the late 90s, reaching number two in the UK Albums Chart with the double platinum selling Read My Lips which spawned three top three singles, including Take Me Home and Murder on the Dancefloor (Europe’s most played song of 2002). Sophie also sang on the universal number 1 Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love), which won the Ericsson Muzik Awards for Best Single and Best Ibiza Tune of 2000.

There were three more Top 10 singles that decade before Sophie’s fifth studio album, Wanderlust marked a change in musical direction, rising to number 4 in the UK on its release in 2014, followed by the album Familia in 2016.

Freya Ridings

Performing in the Big Top on Saturday, the 23-year-old Londoner Freya Ridings released her debut single Blackout in May 2017. Produced by Rich Costey, it has flown past 1m Spotify streams. Her latest single, Maps (a breath-taking version of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs original song) also made a big impact as word begins to spread of this young talent.

Rhys Lewis

Also in the Big Top is singer-songwriter Rhys Lewis who has released four songs on Decca, including his latest soulful ballad, Be Your Man. Rhys became somewhat of an online sensation, with his first release Waking Up Without You soaring to the #1 spot on Spotify’s Viral Chart. He has since racked up 4.5 million streams in total. Listen on Spotify.

Ward Thomas

Modern country music duo Ward Thomas made history when they were the first UK country artist to reach Number 1 in The Official Album Chart in 2016. The twin sisters from Hampshire and their harmonies have continued to make strides since then, playing at various festivals and events across the UK.

‘The homespun Hampshire girls are aiming at much bigger things, so fans should enjoy getting this close while they can.’ – THE GUARDIAN

Vladimir & Anton

Another sibling act in the line-up, violinists Vladimir & Anton are Slovakian brothers. Soon to begin a tour of the UK and Ireland, the duo’s performances take from popular classical music, with their album being recorded during sold-out live performances.

The Bath Festival finale weekend takes place 26th and 27th of May and will also include family activities, busking bandstand, a big top stage, poets corner and roaming entertainment.
