Two trailblazers come together to talk about identity, imagination and human rights. Jay Bernard, Ted Hughes Award winning poet (Surge), performs their spoken word poetry and talks to Shon Faye, a former lawyer and bestselling author (The Transgender Issue: An Argument for Justice). The event showcases the ground-breaking live literary platform, Speaking Volumes, which supports under-represented voices. Chaired by The Guardian journalist and editor, Claire Armitstead.

Speaking Volumes is a live literature organisation specialising in getting underrepresented voices heard, reaching diverse audiences and finding exciting ways to present the work of writers. Speaking Volumes Live Literature Productions takes international writers from the page to the stage. Utilising their wide knowledge and experience, Speaking Volumes Live Literature Productions curate and manage events across the UK to bring both unknown and established writers to live audiences. The one thing all their writers have in common is that they have reinforced the passion for literature through their work.
