Part of the series, Lars Vogt Plays the Beethoven Piano Concertos
Beethoven’s Piano Concertos take us on an amazing musical journey in two days! Ranging from restrained classicism to the unashamed grandeur of the ‘Emperor’ concerto these works contain some of Beethoven’s very finest music. Lars Vogt is quite simply brilliant in this repertoire.
Beethoven: Coriolan Overture
Beethoven: Piano Concerto No 1 in C
Beethoven: Piano Concerto No 5 in E flat ‘Emperor’
Royal Northern Sinfonia
Lars Vogt, piano/director
Both these concerti paint on a large canvas. The first has a brilliant, impish finale which contrasts beautifully with the grandeur and power of the ‘Emperor’ which is one of the greatest of all concertos and even on its own a striking tour de force for any pianist let alone at the end of a 5-concerto cycle. Lars Vogt – respect!
