We are delighted to present the fourth annual concert dedicated to the memory of Brian and Margaret Roper; a concert that encourages future generations to develop their love of classical music.

The Band of the Royal Marines School of Music joins Bath Philharmonia in Janáček’s astonishing ‘Sinfonietta’ with its 25 brass players and Copland’s iconic ‘Fanfare for the Common Man’. Our sparkling evening is completed by two concertos performed by two of today’s most brilliant young brass soloists.

Also featuring a special performance from Schools Voices. Bath Festivals’ Schools Voices project is an opportunity to bring the community together through song and develop young people’s creative expression. For this project, pupils from 11 Bath secondary schools (Kingswood School, Oldfield School, St Gregory’s Catholic College, Three Ways School, Monkton Combe School, Ralph Allen School, King Edward’s School, Hayesfield School, Beechen Cliff School, Royal High School and St Marks School) have worked with Bath Philharmonia to write a set of four songs, two of which will feature in this event. The Schools Voices choir will also perform at Party in the City on Friday 13th May.

Concert for the People of Bath is generously supported by the Roper Family Trust.
