As we had to abandon travel plans, we have become increasingly creative in finding ways to explore other cultures and stay in touch with the rest of the world. We have tasted new foods and discovered international streaming gems all from our own homes. Let’s take the next step and use our bookshelves to roam the globe!
Join your hosts, writer and publisher Scott Pack and Judith Robinson, university lecturer and former literature festival programmer, as they embark on yet another edition of their literary grand tour, taking in as many countries as they possibly can. Scott and Judith will discuss ten carefully selected books by international writers, many of them published in translation, giving you a glimpse of enticing stories and voices that you may not have encountered before. Come prepared to be inspired, to laugh and to join the conversation. As in previous years, this event promises to open up new literary worlds and encourage you to read across borders.
This event will be socially distanced. Our venues were built by previous generations to house large gatherings, so they are adaptable for use adhering to socially distanced rules, with their spacious rooms and high ceilings. Further instructions of audience guidelines will be communicated closer to the festival and will adhere to the government guideline. Audience and artists’ safety is paramount.
