School Without Walls
School Without Walls is an enquiry based model of experiential and creative learning that transforms both the curriculum and the learning culture in schools. Transposing ‘school’ to an arts environment, invites teachers and children to interrogate and reshape teaching and learning in and through the arts.
By collaborating with teachers on design and delivery, the ambition is to influence approaches used in mainstream education to enable vulnerable learners to thrive. The partnership aims to raise aspirations and achievement, to support all those engaged in learning happy and ready to learn in and through the arts, especially to improve the life chances of more vulnerable and disengaged children.
The project is part of a successful partnership bid to Paul Hamlyn Foundation Teacher Development Fund with the Bath Cultural Education Partnership (the egg, 5x5x5=creativity, Mentoring Plus, Bath Festivals). School Without Walls for 2016-17 will work with 10 schools, 22 artists and mentors, 9 cultural centres and the local community. Bath Festivals will be working on a 5 week residency at the egg and The Bath Festival with Westfield School and artists Alice Maddicott, Sarah Moody and Catherine Lamont.Go back
