Then this competition is for you!<\/p>\n<p>Dauntsey&#8217;s School,\u00a0in association with the Telegraph Bath Children&#8217;s Literature Festival, is\u00a0launching a creative writing competition called &#8216;Lexicon&#8217;. All &#8216;Lexicon&#8217; entries will be judged by Dauntsey\u2019s English Department, working with award-winning author, and the festival&#8217;s Guest Artistic Director, <strong>David Almond<\/strong>. Prize winners will receive \u00a350 in book tokens and a further \u00a3250 of tokens\u00a0for their school.<\/p>\n<p>The theme of the competition is &#8216;My Exciting Discovery&#8217;, and entrants will need to write no more than 200 words about discovering an object from the past. This could be something as small as a coin, or as dramatic as a king\u2019s sword. You will need to describe the object, and your thoughts and feelings at the time you found the object.<\/p>\n<p>The judges will be looking for pieces that are characterised by:<\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Imaginative ideas<\/li>\n<li>Interesting and effective vocabulary<\/li>\n<li>A sense of structure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you wish to enter then please submit entries in one of the following ways:<\/p>\n<div id=\"ffComponent_60908\">\n<ul>\n<li>by email to <a href=\"mailto:info@dauntseys.org\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">info@dauntseys.org<\/span><\/a> and enter &#8216;My Exciting Discovery&#8217; in the subject heading or<\/li>\n<li>by post to The English Department (My Exciting Discovery), Dauntsey&#8217;s School, West Lavington, Devizes, Wiltshire SN10 4HE.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Entries should be submitted by Monday 23rd September 2013.
