In a strange, alternate world, where the British Empire never ended, a young boy uncovers something incredible in a rubbish dump in London – a mysterious, mythical, magical animal. A Tyger. Join Blue Peter award-winning author SF Said and artist and graphic designer Dave McKean who has illustrated all of SF Said’s novels, from Varjak Paw to Tyger. Together they will discuss their partnership and how they bring their exciting, action-packed stories to life.

About the Authors

SF Said‘s debut novel, Varjak Paw, won the Nestlé Smarties Prize, and he was the first writer from an ethnicminority background to do so. The sequel, The Outlaw Varjak Paw, won the Blue Peter Book of the Year Award. SF’s 2013 novel, Phoenix, was shortlisted for the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize and selected for the 2016 IBBYHonour List. In addition to winning multiple prizes for his own work, SF has judged major UK book awards,including the Costa Book Awards, BookTrust Lifetime Achievement Award and Amnesty/CILIP Honour award. Dave McKean is an illustrator, artist, graphic designer, photographer, filmmaker and musician. He has illustrated all of SF Said’s novels, as well as books by David Almond and Neil Gaiman. Dave was a concept artist for two Harry Potter films, and has directed three feature films including The Gospel of Us starring Michael Sheen.
