Join the creator of smash-hit British coming-of-age romantic comedy Heartstopper, Alice Oseman in conversation with fellow YA writer and friend Lauren James.

Having started life as a webcomic, Heartstopper quickly became an online sensation with the print editions of the graphic novels bringing Charlie and Nick’s love story to even more readers. A major Netflix series, written by Alice, has received critical acclaim and brought the heart-warming comic book fantasy about LGBTQ+ teenagers to an even wider audience.

Lauren will ask Alice what inspired her to start a webcomic, what it was like to see this published as a graphic novel and, then, to be pivotal in its transition to screen! Find out if Charlie, Nick and co. are based on anyone real and whether, as their creator, Alice is allowed a favourite character!

Boy meets boy. Boys become friends. Boys fall in love. Charlie and Nick are at the same school, but they’ve never met… until one day when they’re made to sit together. They quickly become friends, and soon Charlie is falling hard for Nick, even though he doesn’t think he has a chance. But love works in surprising ways, and Nick is more interested in Charlie than either of them realised. Heartstopper is a touching story about love, friendship, loyalty and mental health.
