Join Jennifer Killick, author of the super-spooky comedy-horror series Crater Lake and Dread Wood for some creepy stories of deadly detentions and terrifying trips with a few jump-scares! Crater Lake activity centre isn’t your usual Year Six school trip destination – maybe it’s the bloodstained man who tries to stop the coach, maybe it’s the absence of welcoming staff, but something is definitely not right! And in Dread Wood classmates (but not mate-mates) Hallie, Angelo, Gustav and Naira are forced to come to school on a SATURDAY for basically the worst detention ever – creepy caretakers and horrors lurking in the shadows… Jennifer finds inspiration all around her, every day, simply by changing the way she looks at the world. In this event, hear how to use your ‘suspicious eyes’ to find weird, creepy, disgusting and interesting things right under your noses.
Jennifer Killick has always wanted to be a writer, but really started when she applied for a Creative Writing MA at Brunel University, which is where she first got the idea for Alex Sparrow and the Really Big Stink. She lives in Uxbridge, in a house full of children, animals and Lego. When she isn’t busy mothering or step-mothering (which isn’t often) she loves to read, write and run, as fast as she can. Jennifer’s favourite things are books, trees and fluffy slippers, and her favourite place in the world is her home, where she can sit in her pyjamas with tea and cake, coming up with story ideas.
This is a schools event and is also open to home-schooled children. You can reserve tickets by emailing email@example.com or purchase tickets online from 1st July
