Shelf Isolation #2

While the Bath Festivals team is self-distancing this spring, we’re keen to share with you (and each other) the books on our shelves that inspire us during these uncertain times. Keep an eye on our blog and social media for regular recommendations from the Bath Festivals team! Next to share her picks is Elysia Collins, Production Coordinator.

#ShelfIsolation – Elysia Collins

The Book of Dust: La Belle Sauvage by Philip Pullman
Philip Pullman’s writing is pure magic. Would highly recommend for an escape from reality, heart-warming relationships and lots of adventure.

The Good People by Hannah Kent
This book will allow you to escape to 1800s Ireland, filled with magic, folklore, superstition and intrigue! Plus, it’s book cover is beautiful.

The Mermaid Singing by Val McDermid
This is the first book in Val McDermid’s iconic Tony Hill and Carol Jordan crime series. There are currently 11 books in the series, meaning you can really pass some time!

The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson
Shirley Jackson (in my opinion) is the queen of horror and mystery fiction. The Haunting of Hill House is eerie yet brilliant. When you’re done, you can even watch the Netflix Original adaptation.

Three Women by Lisa Taddeo
This book has been absolutely everywhere for the last few months and as my current read, I now know why. Let’s face it, we’re all nosey and this book gives you access to the lives of three women and the relationships that changed their life. The best bit? It’s all TRUE!

We’d love to know what our audiences been reading! Do you have a shelf that you would love to share? Post your #ShelfIsolation recommendations on Instagram or Twitter and tag @TheBathFestival
