Part of Bath Songs – Roderick Williams Sings Schubert’s Song Cycles

Roderick Williams is a remarkable communicator whose song recitals are richly rewarding emotional experiences. In three concerts he performs Schubert’s trio of great song cycles with pianist Iain Burnside in a project which will shed new light on some of the very greatest songs ever composed through stunning performances.

Schubert: Schwanengesang

Roderick Williams, baritone

Iain Burnside, piano

Schwanengesang was Schubert’s last word on song. Fourteen Settings of three poets include the wonderful Ständchen and Atlas. The performance will be followed by a discussion with the artists chaired by James Waters, Joint Artistic Director.

‘His rich burnished baritone lovely throughout the evening.’ NEW YORK TIMES

‘His lightness of keyboard touch, his expertise in balancing … are simply matchless’ PRIMPHONIC
