Alex Clark to join Bath Festivals as Artistic Director of Words & Literature

Bath Festivals is delighted to announce the appointment of Alex Clark as Artistic Director of Words & Literature. Alex is an editor and literary journalist who frequently writes for The Guardian, The Observer and The Times Literary Supplement. She regularly chairs literature events and has also been on the judging panel for the Booker Prize.

Alex hosts the Vintage Podcast (www.acast.com/vintagepodcast) which is a monthly books podcast with author interviews, book news and discussions on a variety of literary subjects and she will soon be launching a podcast for Bath Festivals.

John Cullum, Chair of Bath Festival says:

“The appointment of Alex Clark is an important and exciting prospect. Retaining the highest calibre of artistic direction is vital to maintaining the integrity of our festivals, especially in an era of major challenges from traditional financial sources. I have no doubt that Alex will continue to lead us towards an increasingly popular and inventive programme that will reach a wider and more diverse audience.”

Alex Clark says:

“I am thrilled to be joining the Bath Festivals team as its Artistic Director of Words & Literature.  I’ve been participating in the Literature Festival for several years and have witnessed, first hand, the imagination and dedication that goes into making it such a special experience for audiences and authors alike.  I look forward to taking on this new role and ensuring that the Bath Festival literary events continue to be unmissable dates in the literary year and an integral part of Bath’s cultural life.”
