Emily Wilding Davison’s deathly dash at the Derby of 1913 guaranteed her a place in history, something she craved ever since resigning her position as a governess to become a militant campaigner for votes for women. Her protest, which was captured on a few jerky feet of silver nitrate film made her the most famous suffragette of all.
